Pas Bravo La Viande

aunEYEah This is one of the most unique soundscapes I've ever had the pleasure of experiencing. The use of traditional African vocals, the heavy and thick riffs, the mix of different instruments all complimented by the talented drumming of Matgaz has created this unique blend of tribal punk. I can't tell if I'm having a Bad Trip, or a religious experience. I'm looking forward to more :) Favorite track: Pas Bravo La Viande.

about

Unconventional world/punk-rock three-piece EPIQ combine bass, drums, balafon and traditional African singing. A daring and successful move that highlights unfailing inspiration and undeniable rhythmic skills. If the punk-rock energy is ear-splitting, it is without counting on the originality of the project which allies world music's primitive effervescence and metal music's raw opacity. As a result, a deep, eclectic and tumultuous groove, carried by exhilarating vocal featurings. With Mars Red Sky's drummer Matgaz!

Due out on March 3rd 2023, EPIQ's new album 'Pas Bravo La Viande' explores the tempo under all its possible shapes. A simple sentence thought as a work exercise, becomes the pattern for an experimental and ethnic piece. 'Pas Bravo La Viande' is a consistent synthesis of the trio's sonic openness and strength.

Epiq's new album was recorded and mixed by Benjamin Mandeau at Cryogène Prod studio in Bègles, France, and mastered by Arnaud Houpert at U-Fly studio in Châteaubernard, France. Artwork and layout by Laurent Bourlaud.

Mostly instrumental, the album nevertheless contains several exciting vocal samples led by traditional African singers, such as Abdoulaye Dembélé on "Pas Bravo La Viande", or Lassina Coulibaly on "James Krin". It is worth noting that Epiq's drummer Matgaz is also playing drums on heavy psychedelic trio Mars Red Sky.

Mickael Henry-Ledru : balafon, dunun, kryn, karignan, backing vocals
Laurent Paradot : bass, backing vocals
Matgaz : drums, backing vocals
